This is the bone-chilling moment a masked gang broke into a four-year-old girl’s bedroom.
The footage, taken in Basford, Staffordshire, shows a hooded man prying open the window as he stands on the roof.
An accomplice joins him and the pair finally succeed in opening the top window before going to work on the bottom one.
A third man can be seen pacing on the ground below as the pair manage to squeeze through the larger opening..
For more than a minute, the home CCTV records their activities before one of the burglars notices it and redirects its view.
The alarming footage was filmed at 6.30pm last Thursday (November 12). Thankfully, no one was in at the time, but homeowner Adrian Thompson, 52, has now said his young daughter has been left too scared to sleep in her own bed.
Jewellery and loose change from Harriet’s money box was taken in the raid, which took just over 20 minutes.
Speaking to Stoke Live, Adrian revealed it was only by luck that no one was in at the time as his wife, 39-year-old Camille Thompson, had returned to work in the office that day.
“My parents had picked up the little one from school and I stayed for a brew which I don't normally do,” he added.
At first, the dad didn’t realize anything was wrong but when he went upstairs he saw the place in a mess with all the windows wide open.
"They had gone through all the drawers,” he continued. “They took some diamond earrings I had bought for my wife on our wedding day and a watch from our honeymoon.
"They were of huge sentimental value to us. They also handled Harriet's money box.”
Adrian said Harriet was the first to see the mess and the incident has left her too scared to sleep in her own bed, instead sharing her parents’.
"We just need to get her to the point where she's comfortable in her own room again,” he added.
"She has a cabin bed with a cover but she doesn't want that there anymore so she can check if anything is under the bed.
"At the moment she's staying with us and we're going to redecorate her room to try to wipe away all memory of what happened.”
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a burglary at a property on Basford Park Road shortly after 8.40pm on Thursday, November 12. Inquiries – including the assessment of local CCTV – are underway.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police in 101 quoting incident 717 of November 12.
